Committed to improving access to justice
Specialist immigration advice should not depend on what you can afford.
At Sindhu & Partners, we recognise that access to high-quality legal advice should not be determined solely by an individual's financial circumstances. We are committed to supporting access to justice by providing pro bono legal assistance where it is appropriate to do so.
Immigration issues can have a profound impact on individuals, families and communities. We believe that, wherever possible, those facing significant legal challenges should have access to clear, practical and compassionate legal guidance.
Our pro bono work reflects our wider commitment to serving the community and supporting individuals who may otherwise struggle to obtain specialist immigration advice.
How our pro bono work operates
What we offer, who we help, and how to ask.
Our Approach
We carefully consider requests for pro bono assistance on a case-by-case basis.
As demand for free legal services is significant, we are unable to accept every request. When assessing whether we are able to offer pro bono representation, we may consider factors including:
- The nature and complexity of the legal issue
- The individual's financial circumstances
- Whether alternative sources of legal funding or assistance are available
- The wider public interest or humanitarian considerations
- Our capacity to undertake the matter
Where we are unable to provide representation, we will endeavour to signpost individuals to other organisations or services that may be able to assist.
Areas of Assistance
Subject to capacity and eligibility, we may be able to provide pro bono assistance in relation to matters including:
- Asylum and protection claims
- Human rights applications
- Family and private life immigration matters
- Nationality and citizenship issues
- Immigration appeals
- Immigration detention and bail matters
- Other exceptional immigration cases
Each request is assessed on its individual merits, and acceptance of one case does not guarantee that we will be able to accept another.
Working with Charities and Community Organisations
We welcome enquiries from registered charities, non-profit organisations and community groups seeking legal support for individuals requiring specialist immigration advice.
Where appropriate, we are pleased to work collaboratively with referral organisations to ensure individuals receive the assistance they need.
Requesting Pro Bono Assistance
If you believe you may require pro bono legal assistance, you can contact our team with details of your circumstances.
To help us assess your request, please provide:
- A summary of your immigration matter
- Any relevant Home Office or Tribunal correspondence
- Information about any upcoming deadlines
- Details of your financial circumstances
- Whether you have previously sought legal advice or legal aid
Submitting a request does not guarantee that we will be able to offer pro bono representation. All enquiries are reviewed carefully, and we will respond as soon as reasonably practicable.
Our Commitment
Since our establishment in 2015, Sindhu & Partners has provided pro bono legal assistance to nearly 100 individuals who would otherwise have struggled to access specialist immigration advice.
Our pro bono work has supported clients facing some of the most challenging circumstances, including survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, mentally vulnerable individuals, children and other vulnerable people requiring sensitive and compassionate legal representation.
We are proud to provide the same high standard of legal advice and client care to our pro bono clients as we do to all those we represent. By contributing our expertise where it is needed most, we remain committed to improving access to justice and supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Think you may qualify for pro bono help?
Send us a summary of your immigration matter, any Home Office or Tribunal correspondence, upcoming deadlines and your financial circumstances, and we will review your request carefully.
